Ahh, the summer has flown by so quickly and now the fall has finally arrived with cooler days and no more triple digit weather. The race for the holiday season is on its way. Here in Los Angeles, where beauty, style and fashion trends rule and are de rigueur, beautiful hair is on the top of the list to be impeccably au courant. With award shows, red carpet events and celebrations, this year is proving to be a record breaking comeback after 18 months of ‘Groundhog Days’ and shut downs.
Many of us were shocked to let our ‘hair down’ and not have the privilege of going to the salon during lockdowns. Some were spotted in back alleys and secret locations to get their ‘fix’ of color and shaping, but most had to succumb to “do it yourself” to cover the grey or just let it all hang out. I’m not ready to go au natural, so it was a great relief to finally find a skillful pro colorist that was able to blend in my ever emerging gray/silver with blonde.

I had the opportunity to get a mid-summer’s uplift and emerged with sun-kissed highlights, freshly cut and coiffed, which not only brightened my mood but also my looks!

First order of business when I arrived was a thoroughly meticulous color ‘makeover’ with rich hues by Nadine Chavez, who spent several hours mixing and fixing so that I could emerge once again with a radiant crown of golden highlights and color from the roots and beyond.
Growing up in a small town in Los Angeles, Chavez always had a passion for style and fashion she knew she wanted to learn and get inspired from the only the best!
After landing a job as an apprentice at Sally Hershberger she moved to Hollywood to begin her career. She trained under top colorist Stacy Heitman.

After my golden locks were conditioned, I was then introduced to Sean Vangelder, who has a way with scissors and style! He helped to complete the process with a highly skilled cut that added more shape and polish to my overgrown locks. Sometimes you may not realize the cut until you get home and try to shampoo and style on your own. I was happy to see that it wasn’t the magic of his blow dry and products, because I was able to get (almost ) the same effect at home! That is saying a lot for a hair pro who is able to work with your hair and make it fall into place. Suffice it to say that I walked in grungy and walked out glowing and felt like a star, too!
